Yet another sleek Thai restaurant in Kreuzberg
Chaapa is a new Thai/Viet outlet right near one of the ugliest places in Berlin; Kottbusser Tor. Here the junkie zombies congregate en masse, waiting for the man, and glistening chicken carcasses and lumps of Döner Kebab meat are being spun in hideous window displays.
Chaapa is aiming for the dark and sexy vibe, but the concept feels more Holiday Inn than, I don’t know, hipster Hong Kong. Lunch specials are €5.90 though, and all dishes can be had with tofu instead of flesh. I got a yummy tofu dish with Thai basil. It was verging on too hot, which in my mind is perfection.
